Get your garden spring ready

Spring will be here before you know it and if you want your garden blooming with flowers and greenery for the warmer months ahead, its best to start your garden preparation as early in spring as possible. We understand during the past few months many of you have been cooped up inside, hibernating next to the fire - but now’s the time to brave the weather, put on some warm clothes and get your hands dirty. And it is also the perfect opportunity to remain active and get some of your daily vitamin D.

The first thing you need to do is sort out your garden as it currently is. Over the winter and autumn months your garden will have accumulated a lot dead leaves, weeds, or just unwanted growth that you want to get rid of. So, a garden clean-up is an essential first step to sorting out your garden for spring. Take the time to prune your plants. Trim down shrubs and hedging to promote some new growth. All you need to do is, get a rake, some gardening gloves and your Ableworld classic reacher and begin cutting the stems to a more manageable length.

Next step is ensuring you havall your gardening equipment handy. If you need to buy or order new tools now is the best time to do this. Make sure your lawn mower is in working order as you’ll be using this a lot over the next few months, and let’s face it your lawn is probably not looking its best right now. Start with raking your lawn and adding holes to the dry or sparse patches which need extra TCL, adding lawn seeds and regularly watering it. To help with this, we have our handy garden kneeler which is the perfect garden aid when you’re trying to get your garden spring ready. It features a soft foam pad which is raised off the ground so it protects the knees against exposure to wet ground and against injury from sharp stones.

Now it’s the fun part, experiment with flowers and plant your seeds and crops then watch them grow in the months ahead. Take your time with it all, getting your garden spring ready is something the majority of us feel behind or out of touch with. A bit of spring sunshine and we’ll all be ready to get outside and enjoy the spring air.

Thanks for taking the time to read these tips – hopefully they were helpful and encouraging.
