Ableworld Stockport Free Riser Recliner Chair Prize Draw- We have a winner!

This entry was posted in General October 31, 2019

In our Ableworld Stockport store, we recently ran a competition for one lucky winner to win themselves a Kingsman Riser Recliner. A big thank you to everyone who entered, we were amazed with the great response and received over 200 entries.

There could only be one winner and we had the pleasure of awarding the prize to Mrs Gould on Saturday 19th October at our Stockport store. Mrs Gould, who came along with her dog Pip was extremely happy to have won the prize.

Mrs Gould said she has never won a competition like this before so was overjoyed and surprised when she was told. Mrs Gould also told us that as she’s got older she has not slowed down, she is an active member of Hazel Grove Town Women’s Guild as well as being involved with Norbury Church in Hazel Grove. It is clear to see that Mrs Gould is a very worthy winner!

Although Mrs Gould is a relatively new Ableworld customer, she has already recommended Ableworld to several friends due to the good experience she had in our Stockport store.

Thank you to everyone who entered our competition and keep a look out for our next Free Prize Draw, as it could be yourself as our next lucky winner.

We very much hope you enjoy your new Riser Recliner Mrs Gould!

Ableworld Support Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum

This entry was posted in General October 10, 2019

The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, based in the city’s historic Docks recently approached Ableworld to help ensure access is available to more visitors. The Friends of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, a charity which supports the museum, arranged with ourselves for two stairlifts to be installed allowing access to all levels of the museum.

The Friends of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum was set up in 1990 when the museum first opened and continue to organise fundraising events to allow them to provide essential support to the museum, raising over £4000 so far.

The most recent project provided by the Friends of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum included support from local Ableworld Gloucester store on Longsmith street, to install 2 stairlifts so that the museum is accessible to more visitors. The stairlifts were installed on 30th September by our Gloucester Stairlift Engineer, who also took part in the official opening on Wednesday 2nd October. Mr Tommy Clough, 88 who served with the Royal Artillery during the Korean War was welcomed at the museum and took the maiden voyage on the new stairlifts.

Vicki Hopson Museum Director said “We are grateful to Ableworld for helping us make the second floor of our building accessible to those with mobility problems, this means some of our older Veterans can now access the Regimental Boardroom for the first time in many years.  The Ableworld staff were extremely helpful and the stair lifts were installed within 2 weeks of us sending the initial enquiry. Great service, will certainly recommend to anyone who needs help with providing access in the future.”

The museum allows people to discover the lives of Gloucestershire Soldiers from the last 300 years. Visitors can try on uniforms, look into a First World War trench, and learn about medals and how soldiers won them through history with interactive displays plus much more. There is plenty for the whole family to do children’s games, uniforms to try on plus a free quiz. The museum story begins in 1694, travels through the Napoleonic Wars, the Age of Empire, World Wars, Korea right up to modern day conflicts. The museum allows you to discover the stories of twelve generations of Gloucestershire soldiers.

Our Ableworld Gloucester Store Manager Travis added “It was our pleasure to help the charity to support our local veterans. This museum is a great asset to our City and is a great way to celebrate the lives of those who served for our country. Allowing access to all visitors of the museum is something we are really proud to support. We will certainly be recommending the museum to people visiting the area.”

Our Ableworld Gloucester store provides a range of mobility aids to help people live independently, including stairlifts. Our Gloucester mobility shop has recently moved to Longsmith Street, where our team offer a friendly welcome and free advice on all of their mobility aids with no pressure. A wide range of mobility equipment is available from dressing and washing aids, to larger items such as Mobility scooters, Riser Recliners and Wheelchairs, plus much more.

The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum is located in Gloucester’s Historic Docks at: Back Badge Square, Gloucester Docks, Gloucester, GL1 2HE. Telephone 01452 522682.
