Reading Sock Donation to New Beginnings local homeless shelter

Ableworld strives to support local charities where possible and Random Act of Kindness Day gives us the opportunity to offer support and kindness to others in need.

The past two years have been especially hard for those who find themselves homeless in the UK. Following the pandemic amongst various other events that happened over the past two years, Ableworld has aimed to spread kindness and positivity in local communities and hopefully make a difference.

Amongst many other gestures within the company, Store Manager Abdul from Ableworld Reading decided to help local Homeless Shelter, New Beginnings. “It’s been great to contribute to such a great cause,” Abdul said, “It’s a great feeling to know that our donation will provide over 500 people across Reading with comfort and warmth over the next few months”.

New Beginnings' aim is to prevent poverty and financial hardship of people in Reading. They provide clothing, food and essential items to enable independent living and want to support people at what can be a very difficult time in their lives. New Beginnings were extremely grateful for the sock donation as these socks will go a long way in helping people in the local area.

There are many local homeless charities around the UK and we would encourage everyone to think about making a donation of whatever they can to support them. Anyone, from any walk of life, could find themselves reliant on a homeless charity and it’s fantastic what these volunteers do to help others.
